Charity Hatley,
2015 Friends of the Library Scholarship Award Winner
Charity's Acceptance Letter
Friends of the Library for Hood County awarded the FOL Scholarship for 2015-16 to Charity Hatley, a Hood County resident with a Bachelors degree who has taught school for seven years. Charity is currently the librarian/media specialist at Acton Elementary School.

In August 2015, Charity will have earned her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Industrial Design and Technology. During the last year, she has completed four courses in the Library Certification Program at the University of North Texas, making all A’s.
​
Friends of the Library will provide $750 toward Charity’s fall semester at UNT, during which she will complete six hours of study. Funds will also be provided for the following semesters until she completes the requirements of the UNT program.
​
Charity received her scholarship from the Friends of the Library board of directors on Sept. 9, 2015. The presentation was made by Marita Crowder, who was FOL’s original Scholarship Chairwoman ten years ago. Marita also used to be the elementary school teacher of Charity’s principal at Acton Middle School, Jimmy Dawson!
